Hansalpur: Satyagraha for reclaiming the pastureland (gauchar) and agricultural land on 10th March 2014

The matter of the land in village Hansalpur, allotted to Maruti Suzuki Co. Ltd. by the GoG is in the Hon. High Court of Gujarat. The people of Hansalpur had moved the Hon. High Court of Gujarat to order a stay on the ongoing construction. Meanwhile the Suzuki Co. Ltd. was sold this land by Maruti India Ltd., a move which is clearly illegal and violative of the clause under which the land was allotted to Maruti India Ltd. Suzuki India Ltd. has initiated construction activity on this land and the matter will come up for hearing in the High Court on 13th January 2014.

In view of the construction activity undertaken by the Suzuki Co. Ltd the people of Hansalpur have decided to undertake a dharna and fast of 3 days in Ahmedabad.

Date: 10, 11 and 12 March 2014
Time: 10 am onwards
Venue: Outside the Collector’s office, Usmanpura, Ahmedabad

The people of village Hansalpur will be in Ahmedabad demanding justice from the Hon. High Court and the Government of Gujarat. We request you to join them in large numbers to show solidarity and to register your voice of protest against the injustice.

Intercultural Resources is a forum for research and political intervention on issues related to the impacts and alternatives to destructive development. Our effort draws upon the social, cultural, material and intellectual resources that have been generated in the course of dialogues between people of different cultures on questions of social justice, development and self-rule. We are of the view that dialogue can sustain plurality and open possibilities for recovery of the ground lost on account of inter-cultural alienation, which is manifest in a variety of forms of violence that we encounter everyday at different levels of social life.
