With the CBI yet to get a sanction from the Department of Atomic Energy for probe into the alleged scam in ilmenite sales at the Chavara unit of Indian Rare Earths Ltd (IRE), a PIL was filed before the Kerala High Court on Monday seeking issuing of necessary directives to launch the probe. In its Water Operation Plan 2012-2020, ADB has intended to intensify IWRM processes in member countries and calls for further evolution of water governance frameworks in each country, supported by legislation, and with local implementation facilitated by river basin organisations. This speaks how ADB is encroaching upon the domain of “policy formulation” by sovereign states.

‘Claim for mining lease not fundamental right’
The Supreme Court of India has ruled that no private company can claim a right for mining leases and upheld the 2005 decision of the Jharkhand government and the Centre cancelling nine such leases. New Delhi, July 15 (PTI) The government has given more time to 33 special economic zone developers, including Uttam Galva Steels Ltd, Unitech Infracon and GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, to execute their projects. At a meeting on July 6, the Board of Approval (BoA), headed by Commerce Secretary S R Rao, also allowed three SEZ developers to surrender their projects.
